The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Oklahoma has alerted us that scammers are sending fraudulently produced official-looking, but fictitious, court documents to people via email and asking them to call a number to resolve the issue. Some of the fake documents even purport to contain the signature of a federal judge. This is a scam in which criminals pretend to be members of law enforcement or government officials in an attempt to legitimize their efforts. Please remember that neither law enforcement officers nor the Court will ever reach out to you to demand money. If you ever have questions or concerns about documents you receive, contact the government office that purportedly issued the document to verify its authenticity. If you are a victim of this type of crime, please call 405/231-2121 immediately. If you have information on these types of cases, call Crime Stoppers at 405/235-7300 or leave a tip online at www.okccrimetips.com. You can remain anonymous and may earn a cash reward.
